Michael Kisoi, Chief Executive Officer/ Director, Foundation Institute of Africa
Hello and welcome to Foundation Institute of Africa (FIA), an institution committed to bridging the gap in education by ensuring that limited financial resources do not limit any Kenyan youth from acquiring higher education.
Since inception, Foundation Institute of Africa in partnership with the Kenya Youth Education Scholarship Fund (KYESF) has been providing quality education to underprivileged youths from across the country at a subsidized cost. The institute was established in 2007, driven by the need to help thousands of youths who are unable to access higher education owing to high poverty levels in the country.
Over the last 10 years, we have helped thousands of youths study diploma and certificate courses, most of whom have gone further to pursue relevant degree programmes after successful completion of the courses. FIA therefore acts as a link to those willing to pursue degree courses but have been locked out by the set university cut off points.
The institution also prides in offering technical and vocational courses in line with the government’s efforts of reforming the Kenyan education sector to include more technical courses as stipulated in the vision 2030 plan. TVET courses constitute a major share of the courses we offer at FIA
The institute is located in a serene environment in Athi River, Machakos County on the outskirts of the bubbly capital Nairobi. This location provides the perfect blend of a conducive learning space and a cosmopolitan area, making every student feel at home away from home.
FIA has invested in modern learning facilities;- a world-class modern library, well-equipped laboratories, and modern classrooms to ensure students access the required resources for success. We also have a fully fledged sports complex to provide a social platform for our students who hail from diverse backgrounds.
We are committed to ensuring our graduates stand out in the market. We therefore focus on giving our graduates hands-on knowledge in their particular professionals to ensure they suit the needs of potential employers. To adequately prepare students for the dynamic labor market, the institute has established meaningful links with leading organizations and industrial partners who guide the it on practical and professional requirements which need to be built into programs. With relevant input from stakeholders, our courses are therefore tailored to equip our graduates with leading edge skills for the workplace. The relevance of our programmes is maintained through our ongoing relationships with research organizations, banks and industrial partners, both local and international institutions.
Being a dynamic institution FIA engages in community development programs. The institution has endeavored in its responsibility to undertake community programs in collaboration with other stakeholders aimed at inspiring, rewarding, motivating and supporting education initiatives with a view to enhancing the quality of education in the country.
We look forward to you being part of the FIA family, karibu sana!
